Hooray for dye-o-rama!

I've got to say that this swap has been a ridiculous amount of fun. I just got my package today from my secret dye pal, Hillary, and everything is my absolute favorite color - green! Even the other cool treats are green!
Here's a close-up of the yarn so that you can see its beautiful variegation:
And she even made this awesome stitch markers all by herself!
I've always wanted to have some beaded stitch markers, and now I do! I also heard from Karen, my dye-pal giftee, that she received her yarn and was quite happy. In my haste to send it out, I completely forgot to get a picture of it, though. (oops.)

As a follow-up to the self-striping tutorial post, let's see how that other skein we were dyeing turned out, shall we? Here it is still sectioned up, hanging out to dry.
Skeined up for the glam shot (yes, those are carrots growing in the background, which is a miracle in and of itself),
And finally, all swatched up and well on its way to becoming a sock! I plan to do an afterthought heel to keep the stripe sequence on the front consistent, so we'll see how that goes. The one complaint I had was with the color bleeding into the white parts - sometimes the one-row white stripe doesn't quite make it all the way around, but if I had to do it again, I'd lengthen the white parts by a few inches to account for that. Overall, though, I like it a lot. No quiet boring socks here!
Thanks to Alison, for her Canadian Color fetish inspiration!
