When you're one of those people who sometimes forgets that candles are only supposed to be burned at one end (I'm not naming any names here, but you know who you are), sometimes a brief lull in the action catches you completely by surprise. You're chugging along, answering whatever call yells the loudest at the time, tossing in a load of laundry when the last one is done, filling people's tummies and cleaning it up in a rather repetitive cycle, while trying to maintain an entrepreneurial and enthusiastic spirit at the place where they pay you. Then one day, you wake up and you realize...
It's spring break. You put it on your calendar a while ago, and you knew it was coming up, but it was going to be at the end of March and it's ... oh. It's the end of March already. Huh. So for a full week, you're staying home with the smallfolk and actually Getting Things Done. Domestic things, homey things. Things like actually planting a vegetable garden. Things like not trying to do an entire week of 6 people's laundry and groceries in one weekend. Things like finishing up that darned wool sweater you really want to wear but won't get to until later this fall because it's already in the 70s (F) outside. Things like finishing up your sock pal socks for Sockapaloooza.
Things like having the luxury of thinking of only maybe 2 or 3 things at a time. *sigh* Starting next week, the spring activities begin, with soccer and swim team signups, and the last big push of the school year after Easter. But for now, just a good moment to breathe before everything gets a little crazy again. Happy Spring Break!
P.S. - I promise not to work on this lit review I need to get out the door for publication for at least the next 3 days. Or at least until all the peas and carrots are planted. Or at least until I'm at the sleeves on Eris.
